Depart from the town quay at Orford on board Tilly and head downriver on our one-hour round trip with commentary, circumnavigating the RSPB reserve at Havergate Island en route. This part of the river is very unspoilt and a haven for wildlife. For the keen birdwatchers you can expect to see Curlew, Avocet, Godwit, Terns, Sandpiper, and many other species. You may also see members of the resident population of harbour seals at the entrance to the Butley River.
On the seaward side of the river, Orford Ness is a fascinating, secret place. It has played an important role in our nation’s military history and many of the buildings erected during the Cold War period are still there. We will provide more of an insight into the significance of this historical area as we cruise past.
Trips run from April to October.
Tickets cost £16 for adults, and £10 for children (14 years and under).
Tilly can take up to 12 people per trip, and trips will last approximately 1hour.
We also run trips from Snape Maltings and Woodbridge Town Steps.
